JAGUARS TRAINING CAMP
by Florida Times-Union
What have you learned from last year? I'm just not taking anything for granted. Just talking to a good friend of mine [former Jaguars lineman], Richard Collier, day in and day out lets me know he'd give anything to be back out here on this field playing. With the simple fact that I'm still playing, and maybe I can make him smile through my play, that's all it takes for me.
How's the camaraderie on the team? We're real close. Whoever you're sitting by, you can sit there and crack jokes. Everybody is just real cool with each other.
What's it going to be like playing in front of the home crowd? We want to make a good impression. I know it's a preseason game, but it's a game, and we treat them all the same. A win is a win, and a loss is a loss. You've got Jaguars on your jersey. That's you you're representing. We're going to go out there and put on a good show.
What's it going to be like playing against Byron Leftwich? We aren't really saying too much about it. I'm looking forward to it. Byron always had the red jersey on around here, so we really couldn't get too close to him. It will be good to pick him up and slam him a little bit.

OBSERVATION DECK
- The Jaguars concluded their final two-a-day practice of training camp with a light one-hour workout in shorts and helmets. The practice was mostly a passing and special-teams drill and was far from crisp.
- The final pass of the camp, a long one from David Garrard to Troy Williamson, was broken up by Kennard Cox, who is having a good camp and challenging Brian Williams for a starting job. Having the final pass go incomplete summed up a sloppy final day.
- The tone of the final day was set in the morning, when two of Garrard's first four passes were intercepted by Kennard Cox and Gerald Alexander. Cox is making the most of his opportunity because rookie cornerback Derex Cox is sidelined with a groin injury and Williams is struggling.
- Nine players sat out both practices and a 10th, Tim Shaw, was playing but appeared to be limping. Coach Jack Del Rio said "about 10'' players will miss the game Saturday night against Tampa Bay. The nine sidelined players Thursday were receiver Mike Walker, Derek Cox, cornerback Don Carey, running back Rashad Jennings, running back Montell Owens, linebacker Justin Durant, receiver Mike Thomas, tight end Zach Miller and defensive tackle Jonathan Lewis. They will all presumably miss the Tampa Bay game.
- Although fans are now barred from watching camp, one young fan managed to get a look from one end, where the tarp didn't completely cover the field.
- The players have moved back into their regular locker room from what Del Rio called Mt. Northside, which is the visiting team's locker room. The Jaguars had to vacate it to get the locker room ready for Tampa Bay. The idea of the changing locker rooms was to give the team a different feel for training camp.
- Former Jaguars special-teams coach Larry Pasquale and his son, Darrell, visited the final day of camp. Darrell trains athletes and has worked with Quentin Groves and Clarence Denmark.
