Ravens interested in Plaxico Burress

Published Jan. 18, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

When veteran WR Plaxico Burress is released from jail, he could draw interest from several teams despite being out of the NFL for two seasons.

The Baltimore Ravens wide receivers have struggled with the inability to find open space down field. With that being the case, they might show interest in Burress when he becomes available.

“Sure, yeah. I don’t know Plaxico Burress at all; I’ve never met him. But, we’d consider him. We’d consider anybody. It would just depend on where he’s at. I’d like to find out what kind of a person he is and see where he’s really at in his life,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said.

Burress is serving a two-year sentence on weapons-possession and reckless-endangerment charges stemming from a November 2008 nightclub incident in which he shot himself in the leg.

The former Giants wide receiver is eligible for release from New York's Oneida Correctional Facility on June 6.
