New York Giants backup running back D.J. Ware suffered a concussion late in the second quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night, knocking him out of the game.

Ware was hit hard by Cullen Jenkins at the end of a 10-yard reception that set up Lawrence Tynes' 48-yard field goal.

New York also lost backup cornerback Derrick Martin to a hamstring injury. He was hurt covering a punt in the second quarter, which was returned 51 yards by DeSean Jackson to set up a touchdown pass from Vince Young to former Giant Steve Smith.

Jackson left the field earlier in the quarter after making a diving catch on a 32-yard pass that set up a field goal by the Eagles. At the time, the team said he was having his knee examined. He returned midway through the quarter and caught a 50-yard pass in front of the Giants' bench. However, he tossed the ball to New York defensive coordinator Perry Fewell and was flagged for taunting.

The mistake erased the catch and brought the ball back to the Eagles 2 because the Giants also had a penalty on the play. It was the second major flub in as many weeks for Jackson. He was benched for last week's game against Arizona for missing a team meeting.

Jackson returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown on the final play of the game in December last season to help the Eagles rally for a stunning 38-31 victory.
