Raiders add two coaches to staff
The Oakland Raiders have made two more additions to their coaching staff.
A source told FOXSports.com that Johnny Lynn and Mark Hutson will be joining the team as assistants. Lynn will be working with Oakland’s defensive backs; Hutson will handle the tight ends.
Lynn was fired as Philadelphia’s defensive backs coach at the end of the 2011 season after the Eagles failed to match the high expectations that came with having cornerbacks Nnamdi Asomugha, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Asante Samuel in the secondary. Lynn has previously worked as a secondary coach in San Francisco, Baltimore and Tampa Bay and also was defensive coordinator for the New York Giants in 2002 and 2003.
Hutson had spent the past five seasons as Tulane's offensive line coach. He also was the team's co-offensive coordinator at the time he was promoted to interim head coach last October after Bob Toledo resigned.
A longtime college assistant, Hutson also was a team captain and decorated offensive lineman at the University of Oklahoma in the mid-1980s.
Clayton Lopez also may be joining the Raiders to work with Lynn as a secondary coach, a source told FOXSports.com. Lopez spent the past three seasons as the St. Louis Rams’ defensive backs coach.
Another college coach made the jump to the NFL ranks Saturday when the Indianapolis Colts hired Gary Emanuel as defensive line coach, a source told FOXSports.com. Emanuel was the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach last season at Purdue University.
