TWO-MINUTE DRILL Greg Jones You're expected to carry the ball a little more this season than in the past. Are you at all rusty from spending so much time at fullback? It's been a while for me [running the ball]. I'm not going to lie. It's not as polished as it used to be. I'm trying to work myself into it conditioning-wise, knowing all the plays. How important is it to have of depth in the backfield behind Maurice Jones-Drew? It's really important, whoever it may be [back there sharing the carries]. If not me, then somebody because this is Football, injuries happen. You always have to have a backup plan. What do you think of rookie running back Rashad Jennings? He's looking good. Whenever you have the skills that he possesses, you know, where he's big, strong, fast, can run real hard, that's a plus. Is it good to have a former Florida State guy there now in Tra Thomas? It's great. It's been five years since a Florida State guy has been here. I used to watch the draft and see my guys, my friends go, wishing they would come here. But now I have a fellow Seminole here. We can talk about Seminole Football a little bit during the season, so that's always good. How much trash talking is there between the Florida and Florida State players on the team? It always depends on how the season goes. So Florida State is down a little bit right now. They [the Florida guys] have been kicking me while I'm down right now. I've been getting the brunt of that. MICHAEL C. WRIGHT/The Times-Union HEAT INDEX 95 in the morning practice. 85 in the evening practice OBSERVATION DECK - Although Saturday's morning session was supposed to be closed, the Jaguars invited gameday employees from Jacksonville Memorial Stadium to sit in the stands. There were 618 fans in attendance. - Running back Chauncey Washington returned to the field after missing several workouts due to a concussion. - Jags mascot Jaxson DeVille rode wheelies up and down the sidelines on a mini-motorcycle during the morning session. - Marlon McCree, Greg Estandia, Russell Allen, Brian Iwuh, Derek Landri and Jeremy Mincey were among members of the Jaguars' hands team recovering onside kickoffs during a special-teams period. Brian Witherspoon and Alvin Pearman lined up as return men. - Undrafted rookie Michael Desormeaux intercepted a poorly thrown pass from David Garrard during seven-on-seven drills. Garrard made up for the bad pass by hitting Torry Holt down the sideline for a touchdown several plays later. - The Jaguars called the morning session early because of lightning in the area. Most of the practice was conducted under light rain showers. - Troy Williamson, Jarett Dillard and Nate Hughes worked with the first-team receivers during the night session. - Eugene Monroe spent time during the individual offensive period working as a scout-team linebacker.
