--The Jaguars hope to get Maurice Jones-Drew rolling in the last quarter of the season.

In the first nine games, he had 860 yards and 12 touchdowns and a 5.08 average. In the last three, he has 217 yards with a 3.39 average and one touchdown.

One problem is the Jaguars haven't been giving him the ball enough. He had only five carries in the first half in San Francisco and 14 in the first three quarters against Houston.

Coach Jack Del Rio said he wasn't concerned about Jones-Drew struggling in the last three games.

"I think when you give talented players the ball they're going to do their thing," he said. "I think we can do a little bit better job creating some room for him. I think teams have been pretty adamant about stacking the box and trying to limit his effectiveness, and I think as a football team we have to make sure we're doing all we can strategy-wise, scheme-wise and then within our scheme blocking it up and giving him some room. But we know he's a special player with the ball in his hands."

But the Jaguars are still ranked seventh in rush offense and Jones-Drew carried the ball seven straight times against Houston Sunday to run out the clock in the final four minutes.

--Del Rio cut two popular players, guard Mo Williams and defensive tackle Derek Landri, last week, because they had been inactive for several weeks and no longer fit in their plans.

"Great guys," Del Rio said. "It's never easy. We had been inactive for a long time with each of those guys. It was an opportunity we thought we could give ourselves at another position of need, and we're a little short right now. We had three DBs that could not play this past weekend so we ended up bringing up Kennard Cox late in the week and he played on special teams and played well for us on special teams."

Landri was claimed off waivers by Carolina and Williams signed with the Lions.

--TE Ernest Wilford, who got $6 million in guaranteed money to sign with the Dolphins as a free agent a year ago but lasted only one year with them, will play against his former teammates. Wilford, a backup tight end from the Jaguars who left Jacksonville a year ago to sign with the Dolphins, said he has no hard feelings towards the Dolphins.
