Report: Brown out with torn triceps
The Cardinals uncertainty on offense took another blow on Friday night as starting left tackle Levi Brown suffered a torn triceps in a preseason win against the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN. Brown will undergo an MRI on Saturday morning and is expected to miss at least three months, according to the report.
Brown, who was taken No. 5 overall in the 2007 draft, has started every game over the past four seasons for the Cardinals. Brown suffered the injury in the second quarter and was treated by the team’s training staff on the field.
It’s likely that Brown could land on the injured reserve and the Cardinals don’t have many appealing in-house options to replace him. Arizona has two rookies — D.J. Young and Nate Potter — listed behind Brown on the team’s website.
Kevin Kolb was battered on Friday night, getting sacked three times including one for a safety. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt yanked John Skelton from action after five snaps because he didn’t want him playing behind the backups.
