    QUESTION — Daniel from Fontana, Calif., on Michael Crabtree: "Do you think he will ever come to his senses and sign with San Francisco? Does he even want to be there?" jay_glazer: I actually do. If his belief is that he's going to be a top-five pick next year, well then why wasn't he one this year? His value won't increase after missing a year. Just ask Mike Williams. Plus, people were already on guard regarding his character with the buzz heading into this past draft saying he was a diva. This certainly won't help to dispel that notion. As I reported on Sunday on FOX NFL Sunday, the 49ers sent him a letter the week before the season began saying they would modify their offer if he was not in by Week 1. I don't see them caving on their price. On a personal note, I hope he signs soon. I did a Subway commercial with him during the draft and actually liked him a lot. It's a shame to see his name getting bashed, because I really think he's a good kid. The whole thing's a shame. QUESTION — Blake Landon from Tempe, Ariz., on Donovan McNabb's status: "What's up Glaze! Huge Eagles fan here ... just wondering what you think or have heard on McNabb? Sounds a lot like he is trying to play Sunday. I've searched everywhere and haven't really found anything. Let me know." jay_glazer: I don't see it happening, as far as him playing this week. Barring a miraculous and speedy recovery, the broken rib will be just too painful and he can't shoot that up. QUESTION — David from Boynton Beach, Fla., on Brian Urlacher: "Jay, since Brian Urlacher is gone for the season, what do you think the Bears will do to replace? I've heard Zach Thomas or Derrick Brooks as possibilities. Thoughts? By the way, great info as always."

    jay_glazer: "There is no replacing Brian Urlacher, especially the way that Brian had gone back to becoming the old Brian. After an excellent offseason, he seemed primed for a dominant season — he was totally healthy and pain-free, he had put on extra muscle, regained his speed and certainly seemed a lot like the old Brian Urlacher, the one who made the Pro Bowl every year. It was the most excited I've heard him going into a season, maybe ever. Plus, he covers so much ground out there and is great at making calls on the line, great with his checks and adjustments. They're really going to need their defensive line to step up in a big way. I expect big things out of that line with new D-line coach Rod Marinelli. QUESTION — Dick Goss from Kalamazoo, Mich., on Jay's recent bike crash: "Jay: Loved the weird eye thing you did on the pregame show, great to see people still have humor! Best of luck recovering from the spill!" jay_glazer: I appreciate it, thanks. As far as my bum wing, umm, actually it is NOT progressing. I didn't go to the ER Saturday, but looks like I might be heading there soon. I'll send some new gory photos soon, if you're into that kind of thing. QUESTION — Estevan from Shafter, Calif., on the Saints: "Will the Saints go deep into playoffs?" jay_glazer: I think the Saints are definitely a tough team. They can be one of the more explosive teams as long as Drew Brees stays healthy. By the way, great story ... coach Sean Payton has secretly been pumping up third-string RB Mike Bell to me for the last month. But get this, he even convinced his son Connor to draft Bell in his son's fantasy league. Peyton thinks he can be the every-down pounding back they need. So Pops told Connor to take him as a late-round sleeper and promised that he'd be a great pick for him. So Connor responded, "Mike Bell? Who's Mike Bell???" Sean said, "Trust me Connor, I might have some insight into this." QUESTION — Derek Stratton from Calgary, Alberta, on Howie Long: "Hey Jay, how's your arm? That must sting. Just let Howie know I thought he was pretty good in his movie Firestorm. A fan. Like your web page. Lots of great stuff. Keep it up. Derek" jay_glazer: I absolutely will not tell Howie that. That's one of the only things I get to hang over Howie's head whenever we bag on each other. And please delete your comments immediately so he doesn't see it. If he does, he'll actually think he has a fan of his acting prowess hanging around out there. QUESTION — Kaleb Vasquez from Peoria, Ariz., on Randy Couture: "Do you think Randy should go down to light heavyweight or stay at heavyweight?" jay_glazer: He is going down to light heavyweight, and I'm glad. I always thought that's where he belonged. Randy naturally walks around at about 218 pounds — and most light heavyweights walk in everyday life at 225-230 lbs, then cut down to the 205 range for their fights. I told Randy on the morning of his fight that he has no business fighting at heavyweight. But he's just a sadistic freak who loves a sick challenge. By the way, next for Randy he will be fighting Brandon Vera in November in the U.K. QUESTION — John Austin from parts unknown on the Steelers: "Can the Steelers win without Troy Polamalu?" jay_glazer: They'll be fine. That defense is so aggressive and unpredictable, they can sustain an injury here or there.
