Report: Frazier dismisses 3 assistants

Published Jan. 5, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

Two days after having the interim tag removed from his title, Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier Wednesday dismissed three of his assistants, the Star Tribune reported.

Quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers, offensive line coach Pat Morris and assistant offensive line coach Jim Hueber were all let go.

Darrell Bevell remained in his role as offensive coordinator, but it was not clear whether Frazier was planning to make more moves.

According to the report, it was expected linebackers coach Fred Pagac would be promoted to defensive coordinator, with former San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Singletary to fill the linebackers role.

Frazier became the Vikings ninth head coach in franchise history Monday after spending six weeks as the team’s interim coach.

The 51-year-old was handed the reins after Brad Childress was fired on November 22 following a miserable 3-7 start to the season.

The Vikings went 3-3 under Frazier, including 2-1 on the road after losing the previous nine away games.

It is Frazier’s first full-time position as a head coach in professional football.

The former Chicago Bears defensive back had been an assistant coach for four teams in the NFL dating back to 1999.

He won Super Bowls both as a player with Chicago and as an assistant coach in Indianapolis.
