Monkey, elephant make Super Bowl picks

The animal kingdom is predicting a Packers victory in Super Bowl XLV, but according to a slightly more reliable method the Steelers are going to come out on top.

Thanks to the late Paul the Octopus — who correctly forecast the winner in all seven of Germany's World Cup matches last summer — American zoos have now gotten in on the act of having animals "predict" the outcomes of big games.

On Wednesday, an orangutan in Salt Lake City and an elephant in Dallas both seemed to indicate that the favored Cheeseheads will be celebrating Sunday night.

Eli the Orangutan, who has picked the Super Bowl winner three straight times, went with Green Bay by smashing the team's helmet, and leaving the Steelers helmet alone.

And then there was Jenny the Elephant, who was presented with two watermelons, each painted with one team's colors.

She smashed the Steelers melon, which according to the zoo means she thinks the Packers are going to win. Her record with such predictions is unclear.

Meanwhile, EA Sports performed its yearly simulation of the game on the "Madden" video game, and came up with a 24-20 Steeler win.

The video game simulation has forecast the winner every year since Super Bowl XXXVIII, with the one exception being the Giants' shocking victory over the Patriots in 2008.

Super Bowl XLV kicks off at 6:30pm ET Sunday at Cowboys Stadium.
