Report: Masseuses asked Jets for jobs
Two women who worked for the New York Jets as massage therapists asked the team to rehire them in November before filing a sexual harassment lawsuit this week against former quarterback Brett Favre, TMZ reported Wednesday.
David Jaroslawicz, the attorney for Christina Scavo and Shannon O'Toole, told TMZ that a letter was sent to the Jets, and the two sides talked before the team decided not to rehire the pair.
Jaroslawicz said after that, his clients decided to proceed with Monday's lawsuit against the team and Favre to recoup lost wages.
Scavo and O'Toole said the Jets stopped hiring them after Scavo's husband called Favre to confront him about trying to set up a rendezvous with his wife.
A source close to the Jets said the accusers were never fired, since they were never Jets employees, but rather independent contractors hired by the team to give massages.
According to the lawsuit, the 41-year-old married Favre sent the following text messages to O'Toole in 2008 when he played for the Jets.
"Brett here "(Y)ou and crissy want to get together im all alone[sic]." followed by, "Kinda lonely tonight I guess I have bad intentions."
Favre, who said he will not play again this season after a disappointing season with the Vikings, was fined $50,000 by the NFL last week for failing to cooperate in the league's investigation of his alleged sexual harassment of another Jets employee, Jenn Sterger.
