Fairley faces drug possession charge
Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley was arrested on charges of marijuana possession on Tuesday in his hometown of Mobile, Alabama, according to the sheriff's website.
Fairley, 24, was pulled over by police after residents complained about his vehicle speeding through a neighborhood, AL.com reported.
He was charged with second-degree possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, after police allegedly found the drug in his vehicle.
The former Auburn star's mugshot was posted on the Mobile County sheriff's website, which listed him as no longer in custody.
Fairley, who was drafted 13th overall last year, is now the second Lions player to be arrested for marijuana possession this offseason.
Running back Mikel Leshoure, drafted a round after Fairley, has been arrested twice for the offense over the past month, the Detroit Free Press reported Monday.
Fairley starred on defense for Auburn during its run to the national title in 2010, winning the Lombardi Award, which is given to the nation's top defensive lineman or linebacker.
The six-foot-three, 290-pounder played in 10 games for the Lions as a reserve last year after missing six games due to injury. He recorded 15 tackles and one sack.
