Northcutt files grievance against Cleveland

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - has filed a grievance against the Cleveland , seeking to be declared a free agent. According to Northcutt's agent Jerome Stanley, the team did not bargain with his client in good faith. Stanley also noted that there was a breach of contract.

Northcutt had his right to free agency voided after Stanley missed a February 19 deadline to void the last three years of his current deal. Meanwhile, the Baltimore have reportedly offered two late draft picks for the Los Angeles native.

If expedited, the 26-year-old Northcutt could have his grievance heard in front of a special master prior to the April 24 draft.

A similar grievance filed by new receiver was settled last month before an arbitrator ruled on the case. Owens' case was similar to Northcutt's but with a different deadline, and was supported by the NFL players union.

Northcutt, a former Arizona star, has spent his first four years in the NFL with the , who selected Northcutt in the second round of the 2000 draft. He has 157 receptions for 1,963 and eight TDs, including one on special teams.

Northcutt had 62 catches for 729 yards and a pair of touchdowns last season.
