Octopus predicts Favre will retire

Published Aug. 6, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

An octopus at Minnesota's Mall of America predicted Thursday that Vikings quarterback Brett Favre will retire, myFOXtwincities.com reported.

Loki the Octopus decided by picking between two types of food in its aquarium, similar to its German counterpart, Paul, who correctly pegged the outcome of all of Germany's World Cup matches.

Loki's food options were behind two different photos, one of a celebratory Favre in a Vikings uniform and another of Favre's face with a red line through it.

The "prediction" came one day after Favre addressed reports of his plans to retire from football for a third time. The 40-year-old quarterback told ESPN he has not “made any decision” about retirement and “will play if healthy.”
