Vick: '100 percent' I'll play vs. 49ers
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said Wednesday there was a "100 percent chance" he would play this weekend despite suffering a deep bone bruise on his non-throwing hand.
Vick, who suffered the contusion to his right hand during the Eagles 29-16 Week 3 loss to the New York Giants, was able to grip the football during the team's walk-through Wednesday morning.
"I will be out there on Sunday, regardless," Vick told reporters afterward. "There is a 100 percent chance I'm playing."
A CT scan Monday revealed Vick suffered the deep bruise after it was initially feared his hand was broken. Eagles head coach Andy Reid said a blood vessel sitting over the top of the bone during initial X-rays made it appear Vick suffered a fracture.
The team said they would continue to monitor the swelling in Vick's right hand and that he would likely start against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday if he was able to grip the football.
The four-time Pro Bowler left the game Sunday in the third quarter to have X-rays performed after a hit by Giants defensive tackle Chris Canty.
Vick returned for one series without missing a play, but did not rejoin the Eagles' offense when they took the field midway through the fourth quarter. Backup quarterback Mike Kafka replaced Vick with the Eagles trailing 22-16.
Vick -- who signed a six-year, $100 million contract before the season began -- also was unable to finish the Eagles' Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons due to a concussion.
