Buchanon rejoins team after suspension
Cornerback Phillip Buchanon has rejoined the Washington Redskins after his four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Buchanon was on the field Tuesday as the Redskins went through a light practice before taking a five-day bye-week break.
The Redskins will need to cut a player from the 53-man roster to make room for Buchanon. Coach Mike Shanahan said he will make that move later week.
Buchanon called his suspension an ''honest mistake'' and that he's looking forward to helping the team over the final 12 games.
The Redskins are curious to see how Buchanon's shoulder is doing. He injured his shoulder during preseason and couldn't have any contact with the team during the suspension.
Shanahan says he hopes Buchanon can play in two weeks against Philadelphia.
