Report: Favre dismisses Dolphins rumors
NFL legend Brett Favre on Friday nixed rumors he could once again opt out of retirement.
"I haven't heard anything, and I don't have any interest. No," Favre told the Miami Herald when asked about speculation that the Dolphins could consider turning to him as their quarterback.
The 41-year-old Favre had maintained in recent months that he had no plans for another "un-retirement."
The Super Bowl champion and three-time MVP even ribbed the reporter for traveling to his hometown of Hattiesburg, Miss., in order to see if there was any substance to the rumors.
"You're from Miami?" Favre asked. "Don't you have anything better to do?"
The rumors started Thursday when Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano was asked if the team would have any interest in pursuing Favre. He said he could "not rule anything out."
The Dolphins have Chad Henne as their projected starter, with Matt Moore and Kevin O'Connell also on the roster. Henne, heading into his fourth year, is coming off a disappointing season in which he threw for 15 touchdowns and 19 interceptions as the team struggled to a 7-9 finish.
After the lockout ended, the Dolphins were reported to be pursuing a trade with the Denver Broncos for quarterback Kyle Orton, but the talks fell through.
