Reports: Patriots' Gronkowski will play

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick says tight end Rob Gronkowski will "definitely" play in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, according to multiple reports. However, Belichick also said it's unknown how much Gronkowski will play or how effective he can be against the New York Giants.

Gronkowski, who has been limited in practice this week, suffered a severe high-ankle sprain in the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens. While his status for the Super Bowl was unknown, the All-Pro was expected to be activated and play.
Gronkowski, 22, was seen without a walking boot for most of the week and reports cited that he was eyeing a special shoe for game day.
Gronkowski broke the NFL's single-season record for touchdowns by a tight end, hauling in 17 this season.
