Published May. 6, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

San Diego Chargers linebacker Antwan Applewhite was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of DUI, 10News.com reported.

According to San Diego police, Applewhite was pulled over at 2:23am local time and submitted to a DUI evaluation. During the test, the 25-year-old was placed under arrest, police said.

A female was in the car at the time, but was not arrested.

Applewhite's bail was set at $2,500 and he was due in court June 17.

"It's disappointing to hear about the issue involving Antwan Applewhite. We'll continue to monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course," a statement from the Chargers said.

Applewhite, currently a restricted free agent, is at least the 11th NFL player arrested since the lockout began March 11.

He was signed by the Chargers in 2007 after playing at San Diego State. Last season Applewhite started 13 games for the Chargers, recording 48 tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles.
