Report: Chargers WR Naanee arrested
San Diego Chargers wide receiver Legedu Naanee was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest in Indianapolis, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Monday.
The incident occurred about 3:20am local time Saturday after Naanee came across an active crime scene and refused to leave.
According to police, when they told Naanee to take an alternate route, he asked the officer why he was being "such an [expletive]."
Police said they arrested Naanee -- who had a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on or about his breath or person" -- after repeatedly asking him to leave, and that the 27-year-old resisted when an officer attempted to handcuff him. Police used pepper spray, and Naanee still resisted.
As he was eventually being taken to the police car, Naanee said, "Don't you know who I am? I am an NFL player and I'm going to sue your *ss," according to an officer.
"We're disappointed to hear about the issue involving Legedu," the Chargers said in a statement.
"We'll monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course."
Naanee, who is expected to be a free agent once the NFL labor issues are sorted out, has 63 receptions for 746 yards and three touchdowns in his career.
