Report: Snead likely to trade pick
St. Louis Rams general manager Les Snead said Monday there was a "90 percent" chance the team would trade away its No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk reported.
The Rams are expected to garner interest from a handful of teams looking to move up in the April draft to potentially snag Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Robert Griffin III.
"I would say in all honesty, yes, we're about 90 percent sure we will move that pick. But we have to be prepared to make the best decision for this franchise and if the options that are presented to us we don't feel that's the case then we'll be prepared to make that pick," Snead said on Pro Football Talk Live.
"I'm not going to put us out there and say we're definitely going to move it, but we're definitely exploring those options and it's looking like it's gonna go that way."
ESPN reported last month that the Rams — who drafted quarterback Sam Bradford first overall in 2010 — have already held preliminary talks about trading the number two selection to a team that covets the explosive Griffin.
The Browns, Redskins, Dolphins and Seahawks are believed to have the most interest in moving up to take the Baylor star.
Snead, who said the team was "weighing each option on a case-by-case situation," declined to name the organizations that have contacted the Rams regarding the No. 2 pick.
A trade reportedly is unlikely to be finalized until much closer to the April 26 draft, after teams have the opportunity to pursue veteran quarterbacks in free agency.
Former Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck is widely expected to be taken first overall by the Indianapolis Colts.
