Austin scores 3 TDs — 2 in 1st half

Tavon Austin chose a good day to have his breakout game.

After nine weeks of not much production, the Rams rookie wide receiver is off to a hot start in Indianapolis.

Austin fielded a punt at the Rams’ 2 yard line – a move that is generally met with rage on the sideline – made a defender miss and ran 98 yards for a touchdown.

The Rams’ first-round pick wasn’t done. On the next series, Austin ran a go-route to perfection and streaked by cornerback Vontae Davis. Quarterback Kellen Clemens hit Austin in stride and he finished it off for a 57-yard score.

And just when you thought he was done, Austin struck again. Clemens hit Austin over the middle and he took 81 yards for the score.

It’s safe to say that the Rams are satisfied with Austin’s performance as general manager Les Snead’s wife has been posting non-stop on Twitter:
