Bucs coach ejects own player from game
Losing six straight games will drive any NFL coach crazy, but that wasn't the only thing that upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Raheem Morris on Sunday.
During the Bucs' loss to the Carolina Panthers, Morris ejected one of his own players in the second half.
On the final play of the third quarter, Bucs linebacker Geno Hayes sacked Panthers quarterback Cam Newton for a 4-yard loss on 3rd and 15. However, Brian Price was flagged for unnecessary roughness, prompting Morris to tell his defensive tackle to "go home" afterward.
''It was foolish. It's selfish to your teammates, to everybody in the organization, to your fans. That's terrible. That's just selfish behavior, to get a 15-yard penalty in that situation when that's all we talk about, that's all we discuss,'' Morris said during his post-game press conference. ''You just don't do that to your team.''
The Panthers went on to score the go-ahead touchdown and claim a 38-19 victory.
"When you give up a penalty, after a third-and-15, those are things that are not smart, not fair to anybody on the football team," Morris continued. "Not fair to anybody that's coaching that football team. Those things are unacceptable."
