Falcons to talk extensions for GM, coach

The Atlanta Falcons brass will meet with general manager Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Mike Smith to discuss multi-year contract extensions next week, as reported on the NFL on FOX pregame show prior to the Pro Bowl.

Smith, who is coaching the NFC Pro Bowl team, has led the Falcons to two postseason appearances in his first three years on the job while compiling a 33-15 regular-season record.

This season, the Falcons earned the NFC's No. 1 seed in the playoffs with a 13-3 regular season but lost at home to eventual NFC champion Green Bay in the divisional round.

Dimitroff, who was hired in 2008, is largely responsible for building the Falcons into one of the NFC's most talented teams, including drafting Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Ryan and signing Pro Bowl running back Michael Turner as a free agent.
