Report: Barry Sanders getting divorce

Published Feb. 27, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders has filed for divorce from TV presenter Lauren Sanders after 11 years of marriage, the Detroit Free Press reported Monday.

The 43-year-old Detroit Lions great is seeking joint custody of the couple's three boys, aged 10, 8 and 4.

The filing, which was made Friday in Michigan's Oakland County Circuit Court, cites a breakdown in marital relations as the reason for the divorce.

Lauren Sanders works as a weekend anchor for WDIV-TV Channel 4. They were married in November 2000 in Detroit.
