Belichick & Brady: Golf tougher than football

Bill Belichick has coached the New England Patriots to five Super Bowls, enduring the immense pressure that comes with the NFL’s biggest stage.

After playing a few rounds at Pebble Beach this weekend, however, the coach says golf provides plenty of pressure itself. Belichick shot a few rounds with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning over the weekend at the AT&T Pro Am at Pebble Beach, and both quarterbacks agreed with the coach that football is actually easier than golf.

“Yeah, I mean, there is a lot more pressure here playing golf because it’s just you,” Belichick told NFL Network. “I was talking to Tom and Peyton, actually, I played both of them this week. We were just commenting on how much easier it is to play football where we sort of know what we’re doing versus coming out here, where it’s just you, no teammates.”

Belichick also noted that the fans on the 18th green aren’t quite as rowdy or critical as those packed in the seats at Gillette Stadium on Sundays.

“The difference is in football, if it’s third-and-5, and we gain 4 yards at home, the fans boo,” he said. “Here, no matter how far into the woods you hit it, probably the worst you’ll get is an, ‘Ooooooooooooooooooh.’ The fans aren’t quite as intense.”
