Big Super Bowl bets don't pump Nevada casino win

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) Record-setting betting action on the Super Bowl and a big win for Nevada sports books wasn't enough to pump up overall February gambling revenues.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board on Friday reported Nevada casino winnings plunged 13.7 percent in February, caused largely by a huge drop in baccarat winnings and a tough comparison from a year earlier, when the Las Vegas Strip recorded its highest win total ever.

Nevada sports books won a record $19.7 million on wagers in the NFL's Super Bowl matchup that turned into a rout, with the Seattle Seahawks crushing the Denver Broncos 43-8.

The sports-book winnings accounted for a mere 2 percent of the total $926.1 million won by Nevada casinos in February.

In contrast, slot machines brought in nearly $539 million.
