Bill Cowher: 'Highly unlikely' I'll be head coaching in 2014

Bill Cowher, like Jon Gruden, has attempted to quell rumors that he might return to NFL sidelines as early as next season.

"I've never closed the door," Cowher told "CBS This Morning" via PFT on Friday. "But it's highly unlikely any time in the near future you'll see me coach."

Washington Redskins general manager Bruce Allen told reporters this week that he hadn'€™t contacted Cowher, while he searches for Mike Shanahan'€™s replacement. Cowher confirmed that notion.

"There's nothing to that. I was never contacted by the Washington Redskins," Cowher said.

Cowher, 56, was the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach from 1992-2006 —winning the Super Bowl following the 2005 season. But Cowher stepped down to spend more time with his family, eventually landing a job as an NFL analyst with CBS.
