Bills sign TE Provo, cut OT Eckerson

The Buffalo Bills have signed free-agent tight end Nick Provo and released offensive tackle Hutch Eckerson.

Provo played under Bills rookie coach Doug Marrone at Syracuse. He signed with Baltimore as an undrafted rookie last year, but was cut by the Ravens before the start of the regular season.

The 6-foot-4, 249-pounder participated in a Bills minicamp in April on a tryout basis. The Bills have a need at tight end with Mike Caussin out indefinitely with a hip injury.

At Syracuse, Provo earned first-team Big East honors as a senior in 2011. His 92 career catches set a school career record among tight ends.

Eckerson signed with Buffalo in February. The Bills are stocked at tackle after signing Tony Hills last week.
