Caplan: McCoy, Browns agree to four-year deal
The Cleveland Browns agreed to terms on a four-year deal with third-round pick QB Colt McCoy (6-1, 216, Texas), a source confirmed.
McCoy was highly thought of in scouting circles because of his toughness and throwing accuracy, but he fell in the draft because of his lack of arm strength rather than the shoulder injury which he suffered during BCS Championship game against the University of Alabama on January 8. McCoy did not throw during the NFL Combine while his right shoulder healed.
Some personnel sources believe Cleveland’s current offensive scheme does not fit his talent well because of his lack of arm strength and his inability to drive the ball down field. Some felt he should have been selected by a team that runs a West Coast offense, a timing and rhythm based scheme which puts a premium on accuracy, one of McCoy’s best traits.
Baltimore Ravens CB Cary Williams has been suspended by the NFL for two regular season games without pay for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Apparently, the suspension is a result of something that happened to him when he was a member of the Tennessee Titans.
A source said the entire league was notified of Williams’ suspension last Friday. Williams, who is primarily a special teams player, is the 10th player suspended by the NFL this year. Williams can participate in training camp and in preseason games leading up to his suspension which will begin at the start of the regular season.
The Buffalo Bills placed TE Joe Klopfenstein (undisclosed injury) on injured reserve, the team announced. Klopfenstein, who was not tendered as a restricted free agent by the Bills, re-signed with the team in March.
With Klopfenstein gone, the team now has four tight ends left on their 80-man roster.
The Cincinnati Bengals waived backup C Dan Santucci, the team announced.
A seventh-round pick out of the 2007 NFL Draft, Santucci has not appeared in a single regular season game. The Bengals are now down to just two centers on their 80-man roster.
The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms on a three-year deal with NFL Supplemental Draft pick DL Joshua Price-Brent, the team announced. All of Dallas’ other draft selections have signed four-year deals.
Price-Brent, who was selected in the seventh-round, will compete for playing time at nose tackle in back of starter Jay Ratliff.

Free Agent Linebacker Makes Visits
The Detroit Lions had free-agent LB Isaiah Ekejiuba in for a visit this week, a source said. Ekejiuba, one of the league’s better special teams players, was released by the Oakland Raiders earlier this month.
Ekejiuba also visited the Seattle Seahawks last week. The Cleveland Browns have also showed interest in him.
He fits in at outside linebacker and is also capable of playing with his hand down in a 4-3 defense.
The Indianapolis Colts have agreed to terms on a four-year deal worth just over $1.83 million with a signing bonus worth roughly $45,500 with seventh-round pick BL Kavell Conner (6-0, 242, Clemson), a league source confirmed.
Conner figures to compete for a backup job at strong-side linebacker while seeing time on special teams.
The Jacksonville Jaguars finally announced third-round pick DT D’Anthony Smith (6-2, 298, Louisiana Tech). As noted previously, he agreed to terms on a four-year, $2.64 million deal earlier this week. The deal includes a signing bonus worth $850,000.
The Kansas City Chiefs had seven picks in this year’s NFL Draft and now have three under contract. The latest to sign a four-year deal was third-round pick TE Tony Moeaki (6-3, 245, Iowa). Terms of the deal weren’t immediately available, but the two other players that signed deals didn’t receive a signing bonus, rather they received a guaranteed roster bonus.
NFL Films’ Greg Cosell told FOXSports.com that Moeaki was one of the most complete tight ends available for this draft. Moeaki has a legitimate shot to start as a rookie based on the current talent at the position left on Kansas City’s 80-man roster.
The New Orleans Saints made a bevy of roster moves on Thursday.
They re-signed DE Bobby McCray to a one-year contract and signed fifth-round pick C Matt Tennant.
McCray was surprisingly released last month, but was due a total of $3.25 million (base salary and roster bonus) for 2010. It’s fair to say he’ll probably receive well less than that total on his new deal.
McCray started in all three postseason games for the Saints last season and started all 32 regular season games for the club the past two seasons. But the veteran defensive lineman only participated in roughly 33 percent of the defensive snaps last season, a source said.
They hate me
Michael Vick still has friends, but also plenty of haters, which is why he makes our list of most disliked athletes in sports.Tennant (6-4, 300, Boston College) signed a four-year deal, the team said. He was seen in scouting circles as one of the best interior offensive lineman available for this year’s draft.
Tennant will compete for a job in back of starting C Jonathan Goodwin, who is on the final year of his contract.
The team also waived the following undrafted free agents: DE Brandon Sharpe, LBs Harry Coleman and Sam Maxwell, and CB Marcell Young.
