Henne leaves with injured shoulder

Published Oct. 2, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Quarterback Chad Henne left the Miami Dolphins' game with the San Diego Chargers in the first quarter Sunday because of an injured left shoulder.

Henne was hit after being forced to keep the football on a keeper when backup running back Lex Hilliard wasn’t prepared for a handoff. Henne writhed on the Qualcomm Stadium field for several minutes before being taken directly to the locker room for evaluation.

Henne, who was replaced by Matt Moore, later came back from the locker room and did some light throwing on the sideline, but he was not going to return to the game.
