Bears' Forte furious over Bush signing
The Chicago Bears' decision to sign running back Michael Bush Thursday appears to have upset Pro Bowl starter Matt Forte.
Bush, formerly of the Oakland Raiders, agreed to a four-year, $14 million deal, with $7 million guaranteed, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The signing gives the team depth behind Forte, who has voiced frustrations over not receiving a long-term contract from the Bears.
The 26-year-old quickly took to Twitter Thursday to criticize the team's decision.
"There's only so many times a man that has done everything he's been asked to do can be disrespected! Guess the GOOD GUYS do finish last....," Forte wrote.
The Bears earlier this month placed the franchise tag on Forte, who finished with 1,487 total yards from scrimmage before his season ended in early December due to a sprained knee.
Forte is due to be paid $7.7 million next season but has not yet signed the franchise tender.
After announcing the signing, Bears general manager Phil Emery maintained the team is committed to keeping Forte on a long-term deal.
"Obviously, we want Matt to be a Bear for the long term," Emery said. "We're working toward that resolution."
Talks between the sides broke down last year.
Bush, 27, is coming off his most productive season in four years, rushing for 977 yards and seven touchdowns, with another 418 yards receiving.
The fourth-round pick out of Louisville rushed for 2,642 yards and 21 touchdowns in four seasons with Oakland.
Last year's backup, Marion Barber, is likely to be released as a result of Bush's signing.
