Chiefs' Rokevious Watkins suspended for substance abuse violation

Published Jul. 3, 2014 4:39 p.m. ET

Kansas City Chiefs guard Rokevious Watkins has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Watkins was a fifth-round pick of the St. Louis Rams back in 2012, but spent just one season with the team. He battled weight problems and appeared in just one game for the Rams before being put on injured reserve. He was eventually released after reporting to training camp out of shape.

He spent the 2013 season in Kansas City after signing a free agent contract. He appeared in three games last season with one start.

Watkins was an All-SEC selection at South Carolina during his college days.
