Browns not making switch at QB

Published Oct. 14, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Browns coach Rob Chudzinski will not bench quarterback Brandon Weeden following Sunday's loss to Detroit.

Weeden threw an interception in the fourth quarter of the 31-17 loss to the Lions, who outscored the Browns 24-0 in the second half.

But Chudzinski said Weeden played ''well in spurts'' and he has no intention of making a switch to backup Jason Campbell. Chudzinski said there was plenty of blame to be shared as Cleveland had its three-game winning streak stopped.

Chudzinski said there was no discussion about demoting Weeden, who returned to the starting lineup after Brian Hoyer sustained a season-ending knee injury.

Chudzinski said Weeden's teammates have not lost confidence in him ''at all.'' Chudzinski said the team needs to work with Weeden on ''cutting out the critical mistakes.''
