Browns RB Richardson doing 'fine'

Published Oct. 15, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson sustained a rib cartilage injury in Sunday's win over Cincinnati.

Richardson was injured in the first half when he was hit with a helmet in the right side. Browns coach Pat Shurmur said Monday that Richardson ''is fine and day to day.'' Richardson finished with 37 yards on 14 carries and had two catches for 17 yards as Cleveland snapped an 11-game losing streak - and 12-game skid against AFC North opponents - by beating the Bengals 34-24.

Richardson left the game midway through the third quarter and did not return. His replacement, Montario Hardesty, rushed for 56 yards and scored his first career touchdown.

Cleveland's players were not available for comment and won't practice until Wednesday.
