The Atlanta Falcons have made an addition to their coaching staff.

A source told FOXSports.com that Devin Bonik is joining the Falcons as assistant to head coach Mike Smith.

Bonik held that same position last season under Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak. Bonik aided in coaching staff decisions, personnel evaluation, and coordinated the Titans’ practice schedule and football calendar. Bonik also helped in game preparation by compiling scouting reports and statistical analysis for upcoming opponents.

Bonik is expected to have similar responsibilities with the Falcons. The Titans finished 9-7 in Munchak’s first season as Tennessee’s head coach.

Bonik worked under Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio from 2003 to 2009. Bonik and Smith were on the same Jaguars staff from 2003 to 2007 before the latter was hired by the Falcons.

Smith has proven one of the most successful head coaches in Falcons history. He has compiled a 43-21 regular-season record and led Atlanta to two playoff appearances after he and general manager Thomas Dimitroff inherited a 4-12 team from 2007.
