Shutdown halts Whitner name change

Why? Blame the government.

Due to the government shutdown that went into effect last Tuesday, the paperwork making Whitner’s name change official has not yet been processed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

The mix-up didn’t seem to psyche out the defensive back too much, as he finished with three tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in a 34-3 rout of the Texans. Plus, maybe the delay will give somebody time to convince Whitner that legally changing your name on a whim really isn’t that great of an idea.
