Barber's divorce won't be final by May

Published Apr. 15, 2012 1:00 a.m. ET

Former New York Giants star Tiki Barber and his fiancee Traci Lynn Johnson have postponed their May wedding in the Hamptons because Barber's divorce from estranged wife Ginny Cha won't be finalized in time.

Sources said Barber and Johnson were due to marry May 12 at the Sag Harbor home of EMM Group co-founder Eugene Remm, whose nightlife and hospitality firm's holdings include New York hot spots Abe & Arthur's, SL and Tenjune.

The couple had hoped Barber's divorce from Cha would be finalized by then, and Johnson's friends last month threw her a wedding shower.

Earlier this month, Barber reached a divorce settlement with Cha after two years of bitter wrangling over child support and alimony.

But a source told the New York Post, "The divorce will not be finalized in time for the May 12 wedding, so Tiki and Traci have told friends and vendors that the date will be pushed back to, hopefully, early summer."

Cha and Barber had been married 11 years when they split in March 2010, when Cha was eight months pregnant with twin girls. Barber, who at the time was an NBC Sports and "Today" show contributor, left her for Johnson, a former NBC intern. Cha filed for divorce in April 2010, and Barber and Johnson became engaged last year.

Barber, who retired from the New York Giants in 2006, had at one point claimed during their divorce proceedings that he couldn't afford to meet Cha's demands for alimony and child support. In addition to their twin girls, born in May 2010, the couple have sons AJ and Chason.

Barber attempted an NFL comeback last year, but no teams signed the 37-year-old running back.
