The college tutor of New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks is returning to the NFL.

A source told FOXSports.com that the Indianapolis Colts are hiring Charlie Williams as their new wide receivers coach.

Williams, 54, had spent the past five seasons holding the same position at the University of North Carolina. His prize pupil there was Nicks, who had 76 receptions for 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns for the Super Bowl XLVI champion Giants in 2011.

Williams also coached Cleveland wide receiver Greg Little and 2005 first-round draft pick Troy Williamson during his college coaching stints. He was on Tony Dungy's staff from 1996 to 2001 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
