Kelly hopes Tebow sparks 'turmoil'

Legendary Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly does not understand why the Jets brought in Tim Tebow, but he's glad they did.

Kelly, who starred in Buffalo from 1986-1996, said he is wishing for "so much turmoil in training camp" that all of a sudden the Jets' locker room "is coming apart."

"They open with the Buffalo Bills first game of the season in the Meadowlands (MetLife Stadium), so this could be very exciting," Kelly said on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access" Thursday night.

The Hall of Fame signal caller, who took the Bills to four straight Super Bowls — all losses — said he would not be happy if he were Mark Sanchez and the Jets brought in Tebow.

"Number one, it wouldn't make me feel very good," Kelly said. "The job security is a little shaky. Really to be honest with you, I don't know what they really were thinking.

"A lot of pressure is on Sanchez to not only start off hot, but continue game after game after game playing steady. If he doesn't, you know you're going to hear the boo birds, you're going to have people wanting Tim Tebow in there.

"Me, if I was a general manager or a president or the owner of a team, I would not have done that unless I would have gotten rid of Sanchez."

Kelly does think it is Sanchez's job to lose, though.

"He is the starting quarterback," Kelly said. "This is Sanchez's team and, barring injuries, hopefully he'll be the quarterback for the near-future. But if he goes down, they're going to have to do something else with the offense."
