Bears linebacker Jon Bostic was fined $21,000 on Wednesday for his hit on Chargers wideout Mike Willie, FOX Sports NFL insider Alex Marvez has confirmed.

Bostic, who was drafted in the second round (50th overall) in April’s draft, was in violation of the league’s new “crown of the helmet rule.” The rule stipulates that no player can lower his head and forcibly make contact with a defenseless player’s body.

The hit, which did not draw a flag, occurred during Chicago’s 33-28 win Thursday.

The rookie from Florida finished third on the Gators in tackles (68) and tied for second in sacks (3) last year.
