The Houston Texans have a new offensive lineman in the fold.

Eight-year veteran Wade Smith has signed a four-year, $12 million contract with $6.25 million guaranteed, a source told FOXSports.com.

Nashville-based agent Brian Parker refused to confirm the financial terms but acknowledged the signing.

“Wade really enjoyed his other visits to Arizona and Buffalo, but Houston was the first team we heard from after midnight Friday (when the signing period began),” Parker said. “He felt it was the right fit for him.”

Smith, 28, played tackle, guard and center for Kansas City in 2009. He started nine games at right guard and once at left tackle.

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Smith has also played with Miami and the New York Jets. The Seahawks and Chiefs also had interest in signing Smith, a source said.
