Peterson overslept, missed team bus

Published Nov. 29, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson says he missed the team bus to Soldier Field on Sunday because he overslept.

Peterson was about 20 minutes late to the stadium for the game against the Chicago Bears, then side-stepped questions after the game about the reason for it. Coach Leslie Frazier said it was ''a big deal'' that one of his team leaders was tardy, but also declined to cite a reason for it.

On Thursday, Peterson said he overslept and slept through the wakeup call at his hotel. The Vikings lost to the Bears, 28-10.

Peterson called the situation ''unfortunate.'' He says he discussed it with Frazier and he's moving forward to focus on this week's game against Green Bay.
