OL Olsen taken off field on stretcher

Published Aug. 29, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Seth Olsen was taken off the field on a stretcher in the second quarter Thursday night after injuring his neck in a collision with Titans linebacker Scott Solomon.

Olsen was blocking on a screen pass when he took a knee from Solomon to his helmet and went down. Head athletic trainer Eric Sugarman raced to his side and immediately called for a stretcher as a hush fell over the crowd.

Concerned teammates lined up about 15 yards away, and players on both sides kneeled in prayer. He received a standing ovation from the crowd and gave a thumbs-up with his left hand as he was wheeled off the field.

Olsen is in his fourth season. He started four games for the Vikings last year.
