It would be poetic justice if the New England Patriots could sway defensive end Elvis Dumervil to play in Foxboro.

The Denver Broncos were able to sign longtime Patriots receiver Wes Welker with the old strategy of double dipping, getting a great receiver while hurting a conference foe.

Revenge is a dish best served cold, and the Patriots surely would love to land the pass rusher after the fax fiasco that allowed him to become a free agent. According to Marc Sessler of NFL.com, the Patriots are showing interest in Dumervil, either to drive his price up or 'double dip,' so to speak. Sessler writes:

'Wilson reported that the New England Patriots have been poking around. All three teams make sense as potential Dumervil landing spots.

If the Broncos attempt to re-sign Dumervil, it won't be for the $8 million per year he agreed to prior to his release. Dumervil isn't about to command that kind of cash on the open market, but it's no shock to see suitors beginning to hover.'
