Saints WR Morgan arrested for DWI

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Morgan is free on bond after a weekend arrest on a charge of driving while intoxicated.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Melissa Matey said Wednesday that the 25-year-old Morgan was arrested Saturday in Jefferson Parish on a charge of DWI and driving with no license. He was released after posting a $1,150 bond.

A trooper responding to a report of a disabled vehicle on the Earhart Expressway found Morgan asleep, behind the wheel of his car. The trooper's report says Morgan, once he got out of the car, was swaying on his feet, smelled of alcohol and had unsteady balance and bloodshot eyes.

An arrest report, according to the Times-Picayune, says Morgan's blood alcohol content registered at 0.218 percent, more than twice the 0.08 percent legal limit.

Saints spokesman Greg Bensel declined to comment on the arrest. Morgan didn't respond to a request for comment.

Morgan entered the offseason as the team's No. 3 receiver. He caught 10 passes for 379 yards and three touchdowns in 2012 with seven of his receptions covering 30 yards or more. Morgan was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2011 out of Walsh University, an NAIA school in Canton, Ohio, but he landed on injured reserve during the preseason after an MRI revealed a torn meniscus that required surgery.
