Glazer: Jets to acquire Cromartie from Chargers
The New York Jets are unable to be major players in free agency because of the rules of the uncapped year. However, they still have found a way to obtain a marquee player.
FOXSports.com has learned that the Jets agreed to terms with the Chargers to trade for cornerback Antonio Cromartie.
Sources have told FOXSports.com the deal will send Cromartie to the Jets in exchange for a high conditional 2011 draft pick. It is believed to be a second or a third.
The Jets confirmed the deal, but did not release specifics.
In his second season in 2007, Cromartie set the Chargers' franchise record with an NFL-leading 10 interceptions, and added two more picks in the playoffs as San Diego made it to the AFC championship game. He also was credited earlier in the season with the longest play in NFL history when he returned a missed field goal by Minnesota 109 yards for a touchdown.
He had two interceptions the following season while playing throughout the year with a hip injury. Cromartie had three interceptions last year.
