NFLPA looking into agent Jay-Z?

Published May. 28, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

It appears Jay-Z is not above being scrutinized by the NFL Players Association.

The NFLPA is “aggressively pursuing” Jay-Z’s role as a runner in signing New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith to Roc Nation sports agency, according to Pro Football Talk.

The NFL forbids non-NFLPA-certified agents from recruiting players to sign with an NFLPA-certified agent. Smith posted a photo to his Instagram account with Jay-Z before the rookie signed with Kim Miale of Roc Nation.

Pro Football Talk’s source said the NFLPA is taking the situation “really seriously” and that the union will lose credibility if there is no respect for the system and its rules. If any action were to come down, it would be against Miale, not Jay-Z, since the NFLPA has no jurisdiction over the rapper.
