The Denver Broncos are mourning the deaths of running backs coach Eric Studesville's parents in an auto accident in Texas.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Al and Jan Studesville, who were in their late 60s, were killed Tuesday when a truck towing a grain trailer crossed into the westbound lane on U.S. Highway 54 and struck the couple's motorcycle head-on.

"The driver was reaching down to grab a candy bar, which is the distraction that caused him to veer across the road," Texas DPS public information officer Chris Ray said.

The Studesvilles were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Dewayne Buck, was uninjured.

The Broncos canceled their media availability Wednesday and said in a statement, ''Our most heartfelt condolences go to Eric Studesville and his entire family following the tragic loss of his parents, Al and Jan Studesville. We were devastated to learn of their passing today.''

Studesville is entering his fourth season with the Broncos. He was their interim coach for the final month of the 2010 season.
