Report: Broncos players could testify

Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and possibly two more Denver Broncos players could be called to testify at the rape trial of former teammate Perrish Cox, the Denver Post reported Wednesday.

Cox, who started nine games for the Broncos as a rookie in 2010 but was out of the NFL last season, is charged with two counts of sexual assault.

A woman has accused Cox, who pleaded not guilty, of raping her after she passed out at his apartment on Labor Day weekend of 2010.

The alleged rape, which reportedly impregnated the victim, was not reported to police until a month later, and Cox was arrested in Dec. 2010.

Thomas is expected to be called to the stand by the prosecution Wednesday or Thursday because the woman testified she was fooling around with Thomas earlier in the night at Cox's apartment.

Thomas told police he left the apartment with the woman passed out on a couch.

Broncos cornerback Cassius Vaughn, who was staying with Cox at the time but was not involved in the incident, could be called to the stand.

And Linebacker Wesley Woodyard may also be called to testify by the defense, since he had dated the accuser prior to the incident, the Post reported.
